Creating Playlists and Projects

Playlists and projects are collections of songs that help organize your music. Many are simple playlists—curated song collections—while others are formal releases like albums or EPs. You can also create setlists and rehearsal sets for live performances.

What are Playlists and Projects?

A playlist (or project) is a container for multiple songs. It can be:

  • A simple playlist — A curated collection of songs (no formal release)
  • An album, EP, or single — A release with artwork and metadata
  • A setlist or rehearsal set — For live shows and practice

Playlists and projects help you:

  • Organize related songs together
  • Create a cohesive listening experience
  • Share artwork and metadata
  • Track analytics

Creating Your First Playlist

Step 1: Access Playlists

  1. Sign in to your BandClub admin panel
  2. Navigate to MusicPlaylists in the sidebar
  3. Click New Playlist or Create Playlist

Step 2: Basic Information

Fill in the details:

  • Title — Name of your playlist or project (e.g., "Summer Nights" or "Tour Setlist 2025")
  • Type — Album, EP, Single, Compilation, Setlist, or Rehearsal Set
  • Description — Tell fans about this collection
  • Status — Active, Completed, or Archived

Step 3: Add Artwork

Upload cover art (recommended 1200×1200px). Albums and EPs benefit from strong artwork; simple playlists can use a minimal cover.

Step 4: Add Songs

Add songs to your playlist:

  1. Click Add Songs or Manage Songs
  2. Select existing songs or create new ones
  3. Arrange songs in the desired order
  4. Save changes

Step 5: Publish

Once everything looks good:

  1. Review your playlist
  2. Click Save
  3. Your playlist is now live!

Playlist Access Policy

If a member can see a playlist, they can play every track in it—including songs whose recordings are exclusive to other groups. For those group-exclusive tracks, members have limited access:

  • Can do: Play the track and add comments
  • Cannot do: View the chord chart or download

This lets you mix public and group-exclusive content in a single playlist. Members who can access the playlist get full playback; those without group access to a specific recording still hear it in context but cannot access charts or downloads for that track.

Playlist Settings

Visibility

  • Public — Visible to everyone
  • Members Only — Only club members can see
  • Exclusive To — Restrict to certain member groups

Metadata

For albums and EPs: genre, record label, producer credits, and release date.

Tips for Great Playlists

  • Match the type — Use Album/EP for releases, Setlist for shows, or keep it simple for curated collections
  • Consistent Artwork — Use cohesive visuals across songs
  • Clear Descriptions — Help fans understand your vision
  • Proper Ordering — Arrange songs thoughtfully
  • Complete Information - Fill in all metadata fields
